Last week, our 18U team had their first regular season tournament in Geneva, OH. The nature of 18-and-Under teams in these tournaments is always going to be an uncertain challenges because players and teams of ALL levels are included. Some teams have played together for years, and some have played together for weeks. Other teams are limited by their state’s rules for numbers of players from a high school.
Our 18U Flame team arrived with excitement, energy, and talent, ready to see exactly where we might match up against teams from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Our 18U roster for the day included Ally Altmayer, Ava Snyder, Ady Stearn, Adyson Thomas, Jenna Eddy, Mandeki L’Bert-Kaalima, Natalie Gasper, Kailee Harrington, and Julie Underwood. Junior Abby Auman (recovering from ACL surgery) was there to cheer and encourage the team as well.
Rogue330 began the morning in a tough 4-team pool, including Zero Gravity 18 Black and NOH 17-1, the teams that finished at the top of the Gold Bracket that day. Our team showed some tremendous promise, endurance, and effort against all four teams we played on Saturday. Each one of these girls loves to play the game and pours her heart out on the court with hustle and encouragement and willingness to play wherever needed for the team. It’s never easy playing these games at the 18U level, but our girls faced the challenge, learned a ton, and grew as a team. Can’t wait to see them in action again in Columbus for WinterFest 2024!
