Parents, Players, and Fans of our 16s, 17s, and 18s! Get ready for an unforgettable day of Volleyball – this Sunday at the SPIRE tournament! We are excited and eager to see these four teams in action all day: our 16R Flame, our 17R Blaze, our 18R Thunder, and our 18R Fire!
This is our club’s 3rd season at SPIRE, and the environment is GREAT for our season kickoff. Please come prepared for a fun, long day where each team will play AT LEAST FOUR games between 8AM and 3PM.
We anticipate that some or all of our teams will be playing more than four games as we advance in bracket/tournament play during the afternoon. (In it to win it!) (Humble, Hungry, Hustle!)
Fans, please bring your best energy, encouragement, snacks, and cheers for our girls and their teammates. Act like you are part of the team, because you are! We need your support and we feed off of your positive energy too! We find that the teams whose parents and fans are most positive, patient, and supportive throughout the day are also the teams who believe in themselves and win a lot. Please be part of the solution this Sunday!
Here are some important details for ALL of us…
GAME schedules and times should be available in the next 24-36 hours, and coaches will let players know the schedule of the “pool play” – the first 6 games happen between 8AM and 3PM. Long day, bring your phone charger, a book to read, and a “steps counter” for a long day.
ARRIVE at the venue by 7:15AM and send your players to the courts. Parents and fans, please plan to sit in the upper level for most of the tournament. The courts and players need space. Upstairs has bleachers and some chairs. That being said, there may be a chance to sit courtside later in the day if you would like, so bring a lawn chair. I’d suggest bringing a blanket and a pillow as well.
LiveStreams? We will have all four teams covered on video and will send out the details in a few days. Thanks to the parents who have already volunteered to be a part of this!! Gary Underwood and Mike Brown are leading the “LiveStream Team” and Address: SPIRE Institute, 5201 SPIRE Circle, Geneva, OH 44041 – For a lot of us, the “drive up” is a little over an hour. Please leave home early to leave time for weather conditions and/or construction. Welcome to Ohio. Plan accordingly and get your player and fans there on time (#early).
Spectator Guide — If you want to understand Volleyball and the “rules” and boundaries of the games this weekend, I would encourage you to check out the “Spectator Guide” that the Ohio Valley Region has available. It’s very informative and helps us parents understand the game!
Tournament starts at 8am, with the doors opening at 7am.
Tickets required for entry. Tickets for age 18 and under are FREE! Tickets for age 19 and over be purchased online or at the door for $10. Purchase Tickets HERE
*NO CASH SALES FOR ADMISSION OR CONCESSION*
Single Day Format Event. Guaranteed minimum of 4 matches – Pool Play then bracket play. Medals for division winners and runner ups in Gold bracket will be awarded. Division sizes will be adjusted to meet demand until the tournament is filled. 3 courts 16R, 3 courts 17R, 4 courts 18R.
Sunday, January 18 – Doors open at 7am. AM Pool Play begins at 8am (This is the only guaranteed start time of the day); Bracket Play will begin around 2:30 pm (dependent on the AM pool play finishing first)
More tournament info for Spire on January 18th can be found HERE!
Note: Parents or fans who are grumpy, critical, complaining, or trying to coach from the sidelines are invited to sit this one out. That’s inappropriate and embarrassing to your player and goes against everything our teams stand for. Stay home and save the rest of us all the drama.
We are in this to play volleyball, have fun, and begin a four-month process of continuous volleyball improvement. Nobody forced you to join our club. But now that you’re here, please honor your player and the contract you both signed and act like part of the team.
If these words offend you, then I’m talking about you right now. If you can’t say or act positively to support your player and her team, we will remove you from the tournament.
